Joshua Survives Early Knockdowns to KO Prenga in Dramatic Comeback!!

Anthony Joshua stepped into the Jeddah Superdome on Saturday carrying more than just the usual pressure of a comeback fight. Six months earlier, on December 29, 2025, the former two-time heavyweight champion was a passenger in a Lexus SUV on Nigeria’s Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the vehicle struck a stationary truck after a tire issue and loss of control. The crash killed two of his closest team members and friends, strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Latif “Latz” Ayodele. Joshua himself walked away with injuries but focused his recovery on supporting the families of the men he lost, putting his own emotions to the side while slowly rebuilding both body and mind in the gym.

That long road led him to Kristian Prenga, an aggressive Albanian heavyweight with a perfect knockout ratio coming in. The early moments tested everything Joshua had worked through. Prenga came out firing and dropped the British star twice inside the first thirty seconds of the opening round.

Most fighters would have folded under that kind of sudden storm, yet Joshua found his feet, cleared his head, and began to settle as the round progressed. By the second round the calm had returned. He measured the distance, waited for the opening, and fired a clean straight right that landed flush and ended the night at 2:43. Prenga was out cold. The comeback was complete.

Joshua improved to 30-4 with 27 knockouts while Prenga fell to 20-2. The performance was far from perfect, and the early knockdowns will fuel plenty of debate about ring rust and readiness for bigger nights ahead. Still, the ability to absorb that kind of early fire and answer with a decisive finish after everything he has been through says plenty about the man’s resilience. Joshua has spoken openly about the accident and the weight of supporting those left behind. On this night in Saudi Arabia he showed he can still dig deep when the moment demands it, and the heavyweight division will be watching closely to see what comes next.
